German Shorthairs

Hoss was born 4/13/08 and has matured to a very tall shorthair with the bloodhound-type ears. He has strong German bloodlines, shows a willingness to please, and is passing on his great genetics to his offspring. He has sired two litters and already has had three pups achieve the NAVHDA NA Prize 1, 112, rating. We have a five-generation pedigree (showing the closest 62 dogs in his breeding) available for review, and some of Hoss' bloodlines include DC Hillhaven Hustler, VC Merrymeeting Hubertus MH, KS Elk vom Hege-Haus, Lord KS von der stolzen Au, and Axel vom Wasserschling. A genetic search was compiled on the breeding of Hoss' parents, and 499 unique ancestors were found. The full report is available for review and provided to puppy owners. Once seeing this paperwork, everyone agrees that it is a unique pedigree. Because of his unique pedigree and his proven ability to produce prize-winning pups, the stud service for Hoss is $950.

Caiya was born 2/26/08 and shows a very intense desire to hunt and work in the field. Caiya scored 104 points and received a Prize II at her NAVHDA Natural Ability test in 2009.

Caiya has a very strong pedigree, and both of her parents have NAVHDA Versatile Champion titles, among others including AKC Master Hunter. Caiya is from a NAVHA UT Breeders’ Award litter. Caiya loves the water, is very intelligent, and possesses great desire in the field and in the water. She never wants to quit! Caiya covers the ground with an unbelievable desire to find every bird in the field. We hope to begin training Caiya for AKC Senior Hunter and Master Hunter titles in 2012.

Cheyenne was born 2/26/08 and was a littermate of Caiya. Cheyenne has a slightly larger and more muscular build than Caiya. Cheyenne scored 100 points and received Prize II for her NAVHDA Natural Ability test.

Cheyenne is a full sister to Caiya and came to us unexpectedly, because of an unfortunate health problem with her original owner. We feel very lucky to have Cheyenne as part of our kennel and family. Although she is a very friendly dog, her true desire is to hunt. She has no quit, no matter what. Her point is hard, and her scent cone is exceptional, just like her sister Caiya. She should have both solid liver puppies and puppies with more patching and ticking.

Hoss is a very affectionate dog and loves to be played with, loves children and everyone he meets. He is just as happy playing with his family as he is hunting in the field. He is a very houndish-looking dog, which shows how strong the German bloodline is. He has long ears, long nose, deep chest and long body. Hoss has been hunted over pheasants, ducks, hungarian partridge, chukars, and bobwhite quail. He has done excellent on all of them. It is planned that Hoss will begin AKC training in the spring. Once again, interested puppy owners are always welcome to visit the farm and watch Hoss work. Because of the success of the last two litters, we plan to repeat the breeding between Hoss and Caiya for spring 2012. The pups from this breeding in 2010 are all showing a strong instinct to point and have no fear of the water, and the 2011 pups are displaying great promise. Cheyenne also loves the water and will retrieve all day long. Like Caiya, she has boundless energy and never stops. Cheyenne has the strong bloodlines with many titles, including the NAVHDA Versatile Champion and AKC Master Hunter titles, and is from a NAVHDA UT Breeders’ Award litter. We plan to breed Cheyenne to VC Axel vom Stillwater MH of Fair Fields Gundogs for a spring 2012 litter.

We acquired Diesel in May 2010. At nearly one year old he had no formal training, but we are excited about his natural desire to hunt and point. With his field trial bloodlines he has incredible drive to hunt in the field, and his love of water work is like nothing we've ever seen in a shorthair!

Diesel participated in the NAVHDA Natural Ability test on Sunday, August 29, 2010. He passed with flying colors, receiving a Prize I, 112 points. We continue to work with Diesel towards his NAVHDA UT and AKC Senior and Master Hunt titles. We plan to breed Diesel to Misty for spring 2012 pups. Diesel has four littermates who have also achieved the Natural Ability, Prize I, distinction through NAVHDA, and we are eager to see the outstanding pups he should produce with Misty.

We are pleased to add Misty to our kennel. Her bloodlines include VC Sundance Revelation MH and VC Jacob vd Westwind MH. She has the most speed and drive of any dog at SCK, and she received a score of 110, Prize 1, on her NAVHDA NA test.

Misty is showing a great deal of promise with both fieldwork and obedience. Her instinct to point has been present since a very young age, and her desire to please is outstanding. We plan to continue testing Misty through NAVHDA and plan a breeding between her and Diesel for spring 2012.

SCK Westwind Paris KC is a product of the 2010 breeding between Hoss and Caiya. KC has outstanding conformation, high drive in the field, and is coming along nicely with her pointing, retrieving and obedience. KC recently earned a perfect score of 112, prize 1, on her NAVHDA NA test.
